Bali weather – Best time to visit Bali

The best time to visit Bali is during the dry summer season, from April to October, when the days are hot, sunny and dry.

Lying just south of the equator, Bali enjoys a tropical climate with year-round temperatures averaging 27°C in the coastal areas and in the hills around Ubud, and around 22°C in the central volcanic region around Kintamani.

Temperatures vary across the island from hot (33°C) on the coast to cooler (21°C) in the highlands. Average temperatures in the central mountains range from 18°C to 24°C.

June to September sees a slight drop in temperature with refreshing sea breezes.

The wet season lasts from November to March. You can expect very hot and humid weather with daily torrential downpours – the heaviest rainfalls are in January.

Bali and Lombok have similar weather, though Lombok receives less rain than Bali.

Peak, high and Low Seasons
Peak season: August – the coolest and driest month of the year – and from 20 December to 9 January to coincide with the Christmas and New Year holidays. Peak season bustles with an overload of tourists – accommodation is nearly double the usual rates, restaurants are packed, shopkeepers drive hard bargains and the roads are heavily congested.

High season: Chinese New Year, Easter week, July and first two weeks of September. Accommodation is difficult to find and almost as expensive as peak season.

Low season: 10 January to 30 June (excluding high season holidays); 16 September to 19 December. Low season offers good deals on accommodations and dinner reservations are easily booked.
