Lagos – Getting there and around
Lagos is located on the Algarve on the southern coast of Portugal, 13km west of Portimao, 69km west of Faro and 34km east of Sagres.
Getting there
Unless you are arriving from London, the most convenient route to Lagos is to fly into Lisbon Airport and connect with one of the many daily flights to Faro (the nearest international airport). Faro is just a 40-minute flight from Lisbon.
Trains and buses run frequently between Faro and Lagos. From the train station, buses and taxis are available for the short trip to the resort.
From Australia: The most convenient and quickest flights to Lisbon are via Bangkok on Thai Airways connecting with Air France via Paris or via Singapore on Qantas or Singapore Airlines again connecting with Air France via Paris to Lisbon.
From New Zealand: The most convenient flights are via San Francisco or Los Angeles on Air New Zealand or Qantas connecting with United, Continental or Tap-Portugal to Lisbon.
From the UK: British Airways, EasyJet, Thomas Cook and Monarch fly direct from London Gatwick to Faro. British Airways offers daily flights from Heathrow as well as from Gatwick; Tap-Portugal offers daily direct flights between Heathrow and Lisbon.
From the USA: The most convenient flights from Los Angeles and New York (Newark) are on United, US Airways, Continental and Tap-Portugal to Lisbon connecting on Tap-Portugal to Faro Airport.

Flying in – Faro Airport is located 2.6km west of Faro and 46km east of Albufeira, a 40-minutes drive. Taxis and hire cars are available at the airport. A bus service operates every 30 minutes from the airport to Faro train station at Largo da Estação for connections to Albufeira.
Lisbon Airport is located 7km north of the city centre. A frequent bus service links the airport terminal with the main downtown train station.
Entry requirements
A passport valid for at least six months beyond intended period of stay, a return/onward ticket and proof of sufficient funds. No visa is required for a stay of up to 90 days.
