Mallorca – Getting there and around

Mallorca (sometimes written as Majorca) is located in the Balearic Islands, around 209km east of Barcelona and 145km east of Valencia.

Getting there
By air, Palma de Mallorca Airport receives daily flights from Madrid, Valencia and Barcelona in Spain, as well as from most European cities.

By ferry, Palma is easily reached daily from Barcelona and Valencia. Interisland ferries service the neighbouring Balearic Islands of Menorca and Ibiza.

From Australia: The most convenient and quickest flights to Mallorca are on Qantas/Singapore Airlines to Singapore connecting on Lufthansa via Munich or Milan; Thai Airways via Bangkok and Madrid or Emirates via Dubai and Madrid.

From New Zealand: The most convenient flights to Mallorca are on Air New Zealand to Los Angeles connecting with Iberia to Madrid.

From the UK: Thomas Cook, EasyJet and Thomson offer direct flights daily to Mallorca from London Gatwick. British Airways and Iberia offer daily direct flights from Heathrow to Madrid.

From the USA: A huge choice of airlines fly from New York Kennedy and Newark to Madrid with connecting flights to Mallorca. The most convenient flights from Los Angeles are via Madrid on Iberia.

Flying in – Palma de Mallorca Airport is located 8km east of the capital. You can take a bus or taxi into Palma or hire a car at the airport.

Madrid-Barajas Airport is located 9km from the city's financial district and 13km northeast of the Puerta del Sol, Madrid's historic centre. The airport has a rail link to the city centre.

Entry requirements 
A passport valid for at least six months beyond intended period of stay, a return/onward ticket and proof of sufficient funds. No visa is required for a stay of up to 90 days.

Getting around
Apart from walking, taxis, buses and hire cars are all available to further explore Mallorca. You can also rent mopeds and bicycles. A train connects Palma to Soller and Inca.
