Kauai weather – Best time to visit Kauai, Hawaii
Kauai is balmy and warm all year round with an average 27°C. Summer, from June to October, enjoys an average daytime high of 30°C.
For outdoor activities, summer is best for both kayaking, when the sea is calmer, and hiking – the Kalalau Trail is quite slippery during the winter rains.
The rainy season lasts from December to March, when you can expect slightly cooler temperatures and heavy rain in the mountains and short showers elsewhere.
Surf conditions are seasonal: the North Shore and Westside waters are typically calm from May to September, with high surf from October to April, but the South Shore and Eastside conditions are just the opposite.
Note: Hawaii is full of microclimates, given its many valleys, mountain peaks and coastal plains. The leeward sides (west and south coasts) of each island are usually hot and dry, while the windward sides (east and north coasts) are generally cooler and wet. |
