The best time to visit Tahiti is during the dry season between May and October, when the average annual temperature of 27°C (81°F) is tempered by refreshing sea breezes.

French Polynesia enjoys a balmy tropical climate, with hot and humid weather all year round.

July and August are the coolest months of the year due to southeast trade winds called the maraamu with temperatures averaging 24°C (76°F).

The wet season lasts from November to April – the hottest months of the year. Daytime temperatures average a high of 31°C, with a night-time average low of 22°C. Tropical cyclones can develop between November and March.

Peak season: July and August – the traditional July-to-August holiday period in France also coincides with Tahiti's month-long Heiva Nui festival, held throughout July.

Christmas to early January, late February, early March, Easter, early May and early October are also regarded as peak periods when flights and hotel rooms need to be booked well in advance.

May, June, September and October offer the best combination of weather and availability of hotel rooms.
